Youth Empowered Conference
Thank you to our 2019 Contributors
Youth Empowered is a FREE 1 day conference held in the spring for 8th grade students in Butte County. Students have access to interactive workshops, fun activities, lunch, a YE t-shirt, entries to win prizes throughout the day, opportunities to network with community organizations, and more. This conference is focused on enhancing self-esteem, building confidence, fostering youth voice, and engaging in conversations about bystander intervention.
Youth Empowered was established in 2014. The goal was to create a welcoming network of youth who recognize their collective voice and inspire positive change in their communities and lives through the development of social connections, well-being, and leadership skills. Since then, it has transformed into a conference more directly aligned with our goal of violence prevention. Now, the conference is held annually at California State University, Chico for 8th grade students and is focused on bystander intervention. The current mission of Youth Empowered is to inspire young people to become dynamic and effective leaders in their community by teaching them to prevent violence, build community, and champion justice.
We partner directly with schools and youth serving agencies in Butte County to nominate 8th grade students to attend this event. If you would like your 8th grade student to attend, please contact your school principal or counselor.
