Is domestic
violence, domestic abuse, relationship abuse, intimate partner violence and dating violence the same
thing?
Yes they
are. They mean the same thing, but some people prefer to use one phrase
over another when talking about domestic violence.
Does
relationship abuse happen to men?
Yes, it
absolutely does. Although 85% of reported victims are women, that
means that 15% are men. That statistic does not accurately display the
problem, however, because many men will not report that they are in an
abusive relationship for a variety of reasons.
Does Catalyst help men?
All of
our services are open to men who are being abused, including shelter
and counseling. We do not offer services for male or female abusers.
For information regarding who does, please see our
resources and
referrals list.
How can I make a donation?
That can
be done in several ways. A monetary donation can be dropped off at one
of our drop in offices or mailed to us by use of our printable
Donation Form. If you are interested in
donating your time to the agency by volunteering, please see our information
regarding our volunteer program.
Do you offer sexual assault victims services?
Although
many counties have their domestic violence and sexual assault services
linked, we happen to have two separate agencies for both services.
Catalyst provides services to victims of domestic violence and Rape
Crisis provides services to victims of sexual abuse and
assault. For more information about Rape Crisis, contact them at
891-1331 or their crisis line at 343-7273.
